Nanda Devi north sanctuary peaks

You can’t kill the spirit
It’s like a mountain
Its old and strong
It goes on and on

Editorials

The editorial of a journal like an introduction to a book, sets the tone for further reading of the issue or book. In a mountaineering Journal, it places the events covered in proper perspective. It carries the editor’s views about the topics covered and also their true worth. Apart from climbing and trekking, the editorials of mountaineering journals cover special international level events which may not be mentioned in the articles inside the pages of the Journal.

As the Hon Editor of the Himalayan Journal, Harish Kapadia’s editorials appear in 35 volumes of the journal. Each editorial covers the introduction to the contents of that particular Journal as well as the current trend in climbing, trekking or mountain related literature. Many special events of the Himalayan Club or other leading clubs are also alluded to. Hence, it is an important read to understand the happenings during the year that they were written in.
